The custody fight between Aminu Atiku, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s son and his ex-wife, Unmi Fatima Bolori, has taken another turn, as the court granted custody of the ex couple’s children to the wife.
Delivering his judgement on the custody battle between Aminu and Fatima, which has been on since their separation, Chief Magistrate K.B Ayeye ruled that the children Amirah Atiku, 8, and Aamir Atiku, 7, should be with their mother.
However, according to latest reports, there was serious drama at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon following the disappearance of Aamir Atiku.
The alleged incident occurred at 1:59pm, minutes after Aminu lost custody of his children to Bolori, The Nation reports.
According to the boy’s mother’s claim, Aminu snatched Aamir from her and drove off with him.

Chief Magistrate Ayeye granted Bolori full custody of the children after Aminu failed to file a response to her application for child custody. The court ordered Aminu to pay Bolori N250, 000 monthly for the upkeep of the children, beginning from this month.
It also ordered Aminu to carry out medical insurance on the children among others. Bolori’s November 2017 application for child custody proposed a nine-point ‘statement of arrangement’ for the children.
It was argued by her counsel, Gloria Albert-Ekpe and Ethel Okoh from Festus Keyamo Chambers. The applicant prayed the court to order Aminu to pay her N300,000 monthly as feeding and maintenance allowance for the kids’ upkeep and N1million yearly as their clothing allowance.
Bolori, daughter of Maiduguri businessman Alhaji Bukar Bolori, also sought an order restraining Aminu from taking the kids “outside the shores of Nigeria for any purpose whatsoever” without her consent.

At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, neither Aminu nor his legal team was present to announce appearance.
When Aminu and his legal team eventually arrived at the courtroom at around 1pm, the proceedings were practically over. He was observed laughing and playing with both kids in the courtroom.
At about 1:45pm, he consulted with his lawyers and walked out of the courtroom. According to Bolori’s counsel Okoh, Aminu “snatched” his son from the mum, locked him in his car before driving off”.

The couple who got married in 2007 and broke up in 2011, had a dirty fight at their daughter’s school in 2017, with Fatima accusing Atiku Abubakar’s wife, Titi Abubakar of instigating the bitter face off.
As the story goes, after their breakup, Aminu went with their daughter. Consequently, Fatima filed a suit for the custody of her daughter as provided under Islamic law.
Promptly, Aminu countered her by also filing a suit seeking the custody of the kid. But while the impasse aggravated between the duo, Bolori won and was granted custody on Wednesday, October 11th.
She went to her daughter’s school to pick her up and on hearing that she was there, Aminu and his police escorts stormed the school and prevented her from taking the child.

Fatima spat into the air and received it in measured cadence, vowed to not leave the school premises until she was allowed to take her child with her.
It should also be recalled that Aminu and Fatima got married in an epic wedding ceremony in the wake of an enviable and surreal courtship. So sizzling was their romance that Aminu was ready to do anything to impress her and make her his bride.
However, few years into their marriage, bliss developed wings and vanished into thin air. Love took a long vacation and discord erected a massive structure in their abode.
Eventually, the couple separated after a protracted marital crisis.
