Media houses have been buzzing over the past few months with news that Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi neglects and doesn’t render help to his family members.
You will recall that last month, the recently rescued from kidnappers 74-year-old father of the of the former Chelsea star player, Pa Michael Obi claimed that he hasn’t spoken nor physically seen his son, Mikel in 5 years (read the full story here).
“It is an issue, but we don’t know what to do. It’s over five years now without a phone call from him to me. But he communicates with his mother.
There is nothing I have not done to fix it. God has told me that I should not feel hurt. When we start to talk about it, I say, ‘Well, as long as I see him on TV, doing great, no problem’.
He once told his brother that sometimes he picks his phone to call me, but something tells him not to. Sometime last year, he was to bring his kids so that I could name them, he said he would. But he didn’t.”

Also, in April, a man who claims to be Mikel’s cousin identified as Obikezie Chukwuemeka, took to social network to accuse him of neglecting his uncle- the accuser’s father, who was suffering from a partial stroke (read here).
According to Chukwuemeka, the 31-year-old football star has refused to help his family members who are in abject poverty while he shows so much love and care to outsiders, including helping them.
The angry cousin took to his Instagram page to make the issue public, stating that he is not asking the footballer to give them his money rather, all he asks of him is a caring attitude.
Mikel’s father’s claim made a fan of his to call out his girlfriend, Olga Diyachenko on Instagram in order to hear her opinion on the matter.

The fan asked Olga Diyachenko, mother of his twin daughters: ”Beautiful queen, please tell your husband to help his family members and answer his father’s calls. Thanks.”
However, Olga denied the allegations, responding: ”He does, and always done so.”
