Dear MIMsters: Despite all the Hardwork I’m Putting In, My Husband Treats Me Like This

A very good day to everyone in the house. I need an answer to this problem about my husband. I’m the type of woman who goes out of my way to do things an average woman cannot do simply because I don’t always have my husband around. But despite, all the hardwork I’m putting in, my husband doesn’t deem it right to treat me right.

He is a workaholic. His business is all he thinks of yet we just live like every normal person, I practically run the home from cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, plating my daughter’s hair, going to work about an hour and 30 minutes drive to and fro with traffic everyday to manage my husband’s branch office business.
I know every mechanic workshop and the names of the mechanic in my area and work place. My over-sabi even brought me to the point of changing of tyres when flat. Hmmm, I think I have spoilt this man who now see me as Mrs Capable. It’s normal practice for him to dish out duties for me like food, for example,  plumbing work.
With all these, this man never appreciates any of my efforts, not even for once. All he looks out for is fault. He will either pick out the one I forgot to do or couldn’t do because I got tired. Meanwhile, I have 2 little kids under the age of three without a help or nanny. I am tired of him leaving all these duties to me and yet, doesn’t even acknowledge or appreciate my efforts.
He complains that I don’t take his business seriously and that I should keep a straight account for him to checkmate. He doesn’t pay me nor give me allowance, I just have to keep my expenses in full to avoid problems. I am a graduate but I do not have a job.
How do I handle this kind of a man because I am freaking out like mad. I am dead tired.

  • Hmm.. It’s a tough one. Sit him down and tell him how you feel unappreciated. You need to be compensated for working for his business. Taking care of the kids and his business are both full time jobs. Most men i know do not react well to women taking over with workmen, it seems that once you do that they leave it all for you. Take off your superwoman cape please. I wish you the best

  • My dear, you have to stop this your workaholic life or you will soon start looking older than your age. You need him to appreciate you and the only way you can achieve this is to pretend for a whole week that you are very sick that you can’t get out of bed. Let him take charge and see how tough it is to manage the home. If possible let them admit you in hospital.
By the time you return he will be treating you like an egg.

    Good luck!
