Excited Mom, Alysa Nicole Shares Video Of Her 2-Year-Old Son Walking, Beating All Odds Against Medical Diagnosis

A young mom has taken to social media to thank God for blessing her son, Braxton with a miracle. The woman  identified as Alysa Nicole thanked God for giving her baby boy the grace to walk despite medical diagnosis.

Baby Braxton, who has a condition that makes him unable to walk without support, was seen walking in a video his mom shared via Twitter.

In the video, the little boy was seen walking with the support of crutches that also supported his back.

“You all my son is walking, I’m so overwhelmed with joy… he’s not happy but he’s doing it! Praise God!”

According to a Gofundme account created by the Nicole for her son, Braxton’s medical treatments, the baby was diagnosed with a disorder called Hydrocephalus.

Braxton was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016. After birth, Braxton was diagnosed with a health condition called Hydrocephalus, which is a disorder that causes the head to swell due to the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain,  and which as a result destroys surrounding brain tissue.

In some cases, this could cause the head to steadily grow in size, cause convulsions and brain damage. Initially, the boy’s parents were told that he would be lucky if he survived his first birthday. Well, amazingly, he certainly beat those odds, and his care turned from end of life services to long term care.

Braxton had his first brain surgery to have a VP shunt placed when he was two months old.  A VP shunt is a medical device that relieves pressure on the brain. So far, his shunt has helped with the pressure and fluid buildup, his head size is continuing to grow but the doctors are watching it closely.

Most days he is fussy and cries, but we can only imagine what he may be feeling, the possibility of having a dull headache or just the pressure build up alone.  Due to the fluid build up in his head, it’s extremely hard for him to hold his head up on his own.

Braxton has therapy on a weekly basis, he sees a Physical, Vision, Occupational and Feeding Therapist. They all work together to help him improve his developmental delay. Braxton also has CVI- Cortical Visual Impairment, basically the way he sees things is like looking through a block of swiss cheese.

Nicole, who worked full time as a medical assistant, had to quit her job due to Braxton’s daily needs to focus all of her time on him. As Braxton continues to get bigger, more challenges seem to present themselves.

The little boy has regular appointments with his team of wonderful doctors, he sees a Neurosurgeon, Neurologist, GI, Pediatrician, and Ophthalmologist on a regular basis.
