There are the soft drinks we grab all so often to go with their meals and favourite snacks. There are  flavored, carbonated, sweet and our children just love them! But there are very good reasons why you should no longer take these fizzy drinks near your children’s lips.

1. TOOTH EROSION.

Soft drinks contain a high amount of sugar, these sugars are broken down into acids and when these acids come in contact with the enamel on teeth, it wears it out which leads to erosion of the teeth. Children are very prone to teeth erosion as their enamel is undeveloped. Therefore, the  frequent and excessive consumption of soft drinks would decay an otherwise healthy set of teeth.

2. OBESITY.

One can contains 160 calories, 15% of carbohydrates and 88% added sugars, no vital nutrients whatsoever. The body stores these  sugars and carbohydrates as fats which leads to weight gain and eventually, obesity if not controlled.

3. LIVER DISEASE/HEART CONDITIONS.

Consuming a high amount of added sugars (sugar food creators put in their products for flavour and to preserve shelf life)  which are contained in soft drinks would open your child to the risk of contacting a heart disease like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart attack. This is because  sugar ladens the liver, the liver converts the sugar to fat, this fat  becomes so much that it turns into fatty liver disease which paves way to heart diseases.

4. INCREASES THE RISK OF CANCER.

When a child becomes really fat due to the accumulation of fats from these drinks, and because he is not exercising, he becomes prone to cancer.

5. DEHYDRATION.

Sodas seem like a good choice when trying to quench a thirst but after drinking a can, you realize that you still feel thirsty, this is what happens to your child when he consumes these drinks and if he is still thirsty after a bottle, he would want to take another bottle , but even that bottle won’t do it, however, the more he drinks, the more unhealthy sugars he introduces into his system which would become futile in the long run.
