Depression is a mental health disorder characterized by persistent depressed mood or loss of interests in activities, which in turn births significant impairment in the sufferers’ daily lifestyle.

This persistent feeling of sadness or loss of interests could lead the sufferer into feeling worthless and ultimately, sell the idea that suicide is the ‘bravest’ way out to him/her.
Do not listen to that voice, please!
Rather, reach out to get help knowing that, suicide doesn’t take away the pain, it only gives it to someone else. And contrary to the thought that suicide connotes ‘bravery’, it doesn’t! It connotes self-centredness. Do not take it!

  • It’s so sad that we don’t have help lines for people going through depression in Nigeria. No support and education .
I was going through depression after I lost my brother. I had all the signs except suicidal thoughts. People around me didn’t notice because I think they don’t care enough.
I was able to overcome it when I visited my mother who noticed immediately she saw me that I wasn’t looking good. She was able to counsel me and I snapped out of it.
I believe having adequate support and assurance from loved ones can help to overcome depression. Although some people need medical attention.
