Dear MIMsters: Am I Making the Right Decision to Leave My Husband After This? (UPDATE)

I was the woman who posted a while ago after I caught my hubby in a seemingly compromising situation with my 12 year old niece. He seemed to be molesting her. Read my previous post here.

Most of the comments suggested that I might not be too sure. Well, I have found closure to the troubled quest since he clearly denied. I knew it won’t be long before nemesis would catch up with him.

This time around, it was my niece who caught him at the wee of the night. When she was supposed to be sleeping, she saw him touching her bumbum! When he realised that she had caught him, he quickly ran inside. She said she was too shocked to shout because I wasn’t around. I was away at the hospital where my son was on admission.

So many questions have been running through my mind but hey, I have made the decision to exit the marriage. But before then, I need to make some findings before confronting him, which I believe he may still deny.

My questions are; is this a criminal offence by law or it isn’t? If it is, can it attract jail term? We know how porous the Nigeria legal system is. He has as very strong support system, is family that is, and they may want the custody of my child who is only 2 years old. If that should happen, we will have to take the case to court or they allow me exit peacefully with my child?

I also want to know how it is to be a single parent, especially one without a job. I am more than ready to take on anything to keep life going and I have family and friends who can help me kick start my new life. Just so you know, I never told my niece about his first attempt on her, so this is not a case of conspiracy. I will be reading all your comments.
