Woman’s ‘Destiny Helper’, SA To Cross River State Governor, Edet Okon Asim In Police Custody For Doing This To Her 15-Year Old Girl
Edet Okon Asim, former commissioner for Information and the Special Adviser on Biodiversity to the governor of Cross-River state, Ben Ayade, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 15 year-old girl in Calabar.
Asim, who was also former Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council, was said to have been sleeping with this girl for three years running, and this illicit ‘relationship’ with this under-aged has undergone 2 abortions.
Report says that the girl, who was about 12 when the defilement started, was “forced” into aborting twice for Mr. Asim. Unfortunately, a third attempt damaged her uterus.
The girl’s mom, Stella, had two children with her late husband, a popular Calabar-based pastor who was a good friend of Asim.
According to Vanguard, not long after the pastor died, Stella became an item with Asim whom she called her “Destiny Saver”.
Stella was reported to have always warned her daughter against opening up on the matter while collaborating with Asim in the serial abuse.
After the third abortion was carried out by a quack, the young girl’s womb became perforated. Her school teacher (names withheld) was said to have found out and shared the story in a WhatsApp group where human rights activist and the founder of Project Alert, a non-governmental organization, Mrs. Josephine Chukwuma belongs.
Chukwuma swung into action and contacted the Basic Rights Council Initiative founded by child rights activist, Barrister James Ibor, who informed the police and the arrest of Asim and Stella was immediately effected.
Ibor said:
“The third abortion for Mr.Asim was poorly carried out and by a quack too. From the examination that has been carried out so far, preliminary results have shown that the girl’s uterus has been partially perforated and she may likely not be able to conceive again.
We had to investigate and informed the police that led to the arrest of Mr. Asim and Ms. Stella and we have received several calls from various powerful people to step down the matter but the crime is against humanity, the girl needs to be protected.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Irene Ugbo who also confirmed the incident said the matter would be transferred to the State Command at Diamond Hill in Calabar.
Ugbo said:

“Yes, they are in our custody. Edet Okon Asim and a woman were dating each other and later the man started dating the daughter. Before now, she has done two abortions for the man. The woman seems to have been using the man to collect money. This is the third abortion that has resulted to complication. The case was reported at the Airport police station. We are going to transfer the case to the State CID.”
The duo are to be moved from the Airport division of the Nigeria Police Force to the State Command at Diamond Hill, Calabar, Cross River State.
Ugbo stated further that the state command headquarters will take custody of the suspects on Friday and continue with investigation promising that the police will brief the public as investigation proceeds.
