Why South African HIV Activist, Brenda Motsumi’s Story Will Make You Man Up

Still on the on going “O jewa ke eng ?” challenge on Twitter, a South African Radio host, and Inspirational speaker, Lebogang Brenda Motsumi  is sharing horrifying stories of how she’s lived through child rape, abortions, death of a son and living with a deadly disease.

Lebogang revealed that she was raped twice at the age of 5, one of which was by a policeman.

The mom-of-1 who also mentioned that she’s had three abortions, revealed she lost a son at the age of sixteen and dropped out of school during her matriculation.

Now, just as if her name is synonymous with tragedy, Motsumi was diagnosed as an HIV carrier, she lost her womb when she was in her 20s; and currently, she is living with depression and she has kidney disease.

However, in all of the above, Motsumi – an HIV activist says what matters is that she is still here.

“I was molested at the age of 5 and raped twice (once by a policeman).I did 3 abortions,lost a son at 16, dropped out of matric,diagnosed HIV positive and lost my womb in my early 20s.Currently living with depression and a kidney disease. What matters is, I’M STILL HERE!”

Motsumi’s whose tweet had garnered a lots of RTs and words of encouragement, stated her ailment in medical terms and posited that though she is going through all of these challenges, she is grateful to God that she is still here.

“Today I am living with HIV….kidney disease named Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis and bipolar. I’m still here and I thank God….cause many die while still living and others have been buried.

In conclusion, Motsumi postulated that she would continue to give hope to the hopeless through her story.
