1. Your Womb Expands By More Than 500%
During the course of your pregnancy, your womb which is ordinarily the size of a pear stretches from its original size by about 500% , reaching the size of a medium watermelon. Makes it totally understandable why you are unable to fit in your pre-pregnancy jeans!
2. Pregnancy Can Increase Your Shoe Size
How wild is the thought that pregnancy can increase the size of your foot, and permanently too? But it is true! Extra fluid and water retention can cause a pregnant woman’s feet to grow up to one full shoe size.

3. Your Heart Gets Bigger
Not only is the size of your heart altered during pregnancy, its position also changes. Due to the uterus expanding, the diaphragm is pushed upwards, pushing in turn the heart further up in the chest cavity. The actual size of your heart increases by about 12% during pregnancy.
4. Your Will Perceive Odours More Vividly
Who knew perceiving odours could be greatly affected by pregnancy? This one is not new, many pregnant women really do experience a heightened sense of smell.
This is basically the body’s way of steering them away from food that would be bad for the baby. This explains the food cravings too! See nature does take care of its own.

5. You Are More Likely to Break A Bone During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, a woman’s body stretches significantly due to a hormone called relaxin. The hormone which is supposed to relax the joints and stretch the ligaments is also aimed to ease birth but it also increases your odds of breaking a bone, so watch your step!
6. You Can Get Pregnant When You Are Already pregnant!
Superfetation is incredibly rare but it has happened. In simple terms, it is the occurrence of a second conception during pregnancy. In other words you can get pregnant again while you are already pregnant. Crazy right? But it is true!
7. During Pregnancy, you grow an organ
You actually grow an organ during pregnancy- not just your baby, but the placenta too.
