“I am a product of rape.” Comedian Helen Paul Shockingly Reveals In Her Doctorate Degree Dedication
When the time is right, however, matters that brought us so much pain can be rendered powerless by our growth; life after all is a question of time. This may ring true in the case of actress/comedian and mum-of-three Helen Paul after she revealed quite shockingly that her mother had conceived her as a consequence of a rape.
The popular actress is clearly still over the moon and awed over her doctorate degree which she bagged on the 4th of April from the Theater Arts department, University of Lagos. According to her, she is the first to achieve such academic feat among her colleagues in the comedy business.
The ecstatic mum of three had in other posts acknowledged her husband and family but this time, she is dedicating her doctorate degree to her mum who believed in her despite the circumstances of her birth as her mother had conceived her after a rape experience. While family members rubbed it in her face and called her ‘Bastard’, her mum stood loving and supporting her.

“I HELEN PAUL dedicate this to my mum, you gave birth to me out of rape, they told you i wouldn’t amount to anything
I grew up hearing from family members; being called a “Bastard” and each time i asked you, you said (Olorun lon wo omo werey, Olorun ma wo e meaning God watches the child of a mad person, he’d watch over you)
Mummy i want to know i love you, i might not buy you Benz now because i don’t have a Pant yet but this certificate will amount to something great.
They say Fame is nothing but Grace is everything and i pray for grace in everything i do
I’m not a Cele member but Late Osofa gave me the name and everything Late Osofa said about Helen Paul is coming to pass
I dedicate this to every mother, may God make you strong enough to survive and enjoy the fruit of your labour…”
