Leah Sharibu Trends On Social Media Again
Leah Sharibu, the only schoolgirl remaining in Boko Haram captivity after the Dapchi kidnappings, turns sixteen today. Leah was held back by the terror group for refusing to denounce her Christian faith after the Nigerian government negotiated and paid ransom for the release of her and her mates.
Her whereabouts remain unknown despite promises by the federal government to get her released. On February 19, 2018, Boko Haram terrorists stormed the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi and whisked away 110 school girls including Leah.
Her classmates after much negotiations between the Federal government and the terrorists were released but the terrorists held on to her because she refused to give up her Christian faith and adopt the Islamic religion.
For her courage which has sadly caused her to remain in captivity, Nigerians all over social media are raising awareness afresh about her plight and wishing for her safe return as she turns 16 today.
