BREAKING: Hundreds Of Students Affected As Queens College Records Another Epidemic Breakout

Barely two weeks after resuming a new academic session, many students of Queens College, Lagos have fallen ill following a breakout of a yet to be identified infection. This is coming only two years after three pupils of the school died from water-borne infections, another related disease.

According to reports, over 900 students in the all-girls school have been sent back home as the number of affected students is beyond the capacity of the school’s sickbay. Many parents have also been called to come and pick up their ill children.

Confirming the recent outbreak, the  Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, John Ofoke, told a PUNCH correspondent that the situation is bad and that the management of the school is planning to cover up the crisis.

The school’s sickbay was said to be overcrowded with pupils, as many were also laid on benches to create extensions. Reports say that more and more parents were being telephoned to come and pick their children as the situation worsened.

PUNCH reports that a parent drew the attention of a correspondent to the situation early Monday morning when she called to register her concerns. The parent, who refused to have her name in print revealed that she has since withdrawn her child from the school. She confided that when the PTA chairman visited the sickbay and asked to see the register of affected students, his demand was turned down.

The Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, John Ofoke, said the situation was worse, adding that 900 pupils had left on health grounds. He alleged that the school management was planning to cover up the crisis.
