Health Minister, Ehanire Cautions Schools As He Shares That A Significant Percentage COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria Are Below Age 19

Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire has cautioned on reopening of schools while revealing that 10 percent of all positive COVID-19 cases in the country are people below the age of 19.

Speaking on Monday September 21 at the daily briefing of the PTF on COVID-19 in Abuja, the Minister said that though adults especially those 60 years and above are more vulnerable to Coronavirus complication, such complications occur in all age groups.

Osagie further cautioned schools to adhere to the protocols and advisories for reopening schools to prevent COVID-19 surge.

He said;

“Records show that 10 per cent of all positive cases we have treated are below the age of 19 years.

Therefore, as schools begin to reopen in some areas, I urge caution and adherence to the protocols and advisories for reopening schools, to prevent COVID-19 surge.
