Sir Michael Wilshaw, head of Ofsted has advised that every parent whose kids are to start primary school must first master this ten-point checklist. This warning was issued on the basis that too many kids have been found wanting in following basic instructions which poses a huge struggle for them.
Bringing it home to Nigeria, quite a number of children who are sent off to nursery school, preschool or kindergarten as toddlers hardly have this problem since they are usually trained to master these skills. This problem is common to parents who keep their children at home and fail to teach them these vital skills.
