‘Too Fat to Work’ Couple Expecting A Baby After Losing Enough Weight To Consummate Their Marriage

Morbidly-obese Steve Beer, 45, and his wife, Michelle, 43, who said they were too fat to work, funded their £3,000 wedding through benefits and were forced to embark on a six-month weight-loss programme following lots of backlash, lost enough weight to finally consummate their 1-year-old marriage (read here). Now, the couple have revealed they are expecting their first baby together. The pair are planning to renew their wedding vows to celebrate.

Mrs Beer, who has lost 5st 6lb and now weighs 17st 9lb, told Closer magazine: ‘I recently discovered I am one-month pregnant and I’m thrilled. It was a complete surprise. It is very early days but we are overjoyed.’

The mother-of-seven, from Plymouth, Devon, went on : ‘We both have children from previous relationships, but can’t wait to have a child together. I don’t mind it if it a girl or boy. I’m just happy to be a mum again. Our weight made sex difficult and we went without it for a year, but, since we lost weight, things are back on track.’

Mrs Beer, who is 4ft 11in tall, added: ‘I am determined this pregnancy won’t ruin my dieting. I will still eat healthily and exercise. I hope to get down to 10st and a size 12 and Steve would like to be 13st. We both want to be healthy for our baby.’

The couple already have 13 children between them, six from Mr Beer’s previous relationships and seven from his wife’s.

The formerly bone idle pair are hoping to turn their lives around and have ditched their £15-a-day kebab habit in favour of healthy home-cooked meals.

On top of that, the couple moved into a mobile home in the country and joined a nearby military-style boot camp where they trained six days a week.

Mrs Beer said: ‘I am looking forward to a happy, healthy future with our new baby and proving we can change our lives for the better.’
