See Lola Omotayo’s Heartfelt Message As She Loses Nanny to Cervical Cancer

Lola and Peter Okoye have lost Esther Ngobor, the nanny who inspired Lola’s budding cancer foundation.

She previously told Motherhood In-Style Magazine about the deceased’s struggle with cervical cancer:

“When Cameron was three, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer stage 3B and they gave her about three months to live. People were like your nanny has cancer, send her back to the village. I said, “No, I can’t do that.” So, I did as much research as I could, tried to get the best oncologist and registered her at Eko hospital. We were there for her. Peter and I just decided we were going to give our best no matter what. She did about 6 weeks of chemo and radiotherapy here in the country and we found out that there were so many people with cancer. We only had two radiotherapy machines in the country that were working at the time. Every morning she would go to Eko hospital at 3 a.m., line up with like a 100 people trying to get chemo and radiotherapy. At a point, l just thought we had to add value to these people’s lives, make it easier for them to deal with the way the system is. So, we started taking water and blanket to them every day, counselling, and supporting them in our own little way. We helped some people with their bills and became like a family. Her cancer was in remission for two years and last year, it came back, spread to her spine and some other areas, so we started chemo again. We’re believing God that medicine would help.”

Sadly, she gave up this morning.

Lola took to her IG page to share this heartfelt message:
