Ahmed Mohamed Set To Relocate With Family After Accepting Scholarship To Study In Qatar
Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old Texas schoolboy who shot into the spotlight after he was arrested and suspended for bringing a homemade clock thought to look like a bomb to school (read here, here and here) has decided to continue his education in Doha, Qatar after accepting a scholarship from the Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development.
Ahmed family stated he will be enrolled in the Qatar Foundation’s “Young Innovators” program and his whole family will relocate with him to Qatar.
The family said in a press release: “Our family has been overwhelmed by the many offers of support we have received since the unfortunate incident of Ahmed’s arrest. From the White House to Sudan, to Mecca, we have been welcomed by a variety of individuals, businesses and educational institutions.”
Ahmed who was in Doha earlier this month while visiting top dignitaries around the world, stated how happy he is to continue his education in Qatar. He said:
“Qatar was a cool place to visit. I loved the city of Doha because it’s so modern. I saw so many amazing schools there, many of them campuses of famous American universities. The teachers were great. I think I will learn a lot and have fun too.”
