Nollywood actress Henrietta Kosoko passed away on Monday, June 6, a year after the actress survived a near-fatal accident along Sagamu-Abeokuta road.
The funeral service slated for today at Regina Mundi, Mushin, Lagos has been canceled.
Not only that, her remains will also not be interred at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos as earlier planned by the burial committee.
A source close to the family disclosed that the family of the late actress does not recognize Jide Kosoko as her husband, hence, their decision to take charge of her funeral.
The source said:
“Henrietta is Urhobo woman from Delta State, where they cherish their culture. Jide Kosoko didn’t go to her family house in Delta to pay her dowry.
“He met her here in Lagos and they got married and never made any attempt to go the village with her to do the needful. Because of this, her family doesn’t see him as their in-law.
“It’s true that Henrietta’s remains will no longer be buried in Lagos. Her siblings and other members of her family have insisted they’re not burying her in Lagos as earlier planned by Jide Kosoko.
“I learnt the issue didn’t go down well with Jide Kosoko but there’s nothing he could do to resist that,”the source said.
Henrietta Kosoko’s remains will now be moved to her hometown in Delta State tomorrow morning, 11th of June, 2016 for the proper burial.
