Five Annoying And Funny Things Nigerian Parents Have Caught Their Kids Doing

Everyone knows how awesome kids are. But they can also be a handful and are usually up to one form of mischief or another. So parents – in this case, Nigerian parents – have learnt not to leave their kids to their own devices, for as soon as they do, the children engage in the funniest and most annoying things. Here are five of those things that Nigerian parents have caught their kids doing …

Begging from the neighbour and copying homework from their peers

Some Nigerian parents would agree that even when their kids have an abundance of everything, they still catch them begging for things like biscuit, sweets, a fanciful pen or a pencil case from their friends or next door neighbour. These parents have also perhaps caught their kids copying the solutions to the Mathematics sums in their textbooks from their peers. This could irk any Nigerian parent to no end, and when the child is caught, the parent is sure to drum it into the child’s ears that such must not repeat itself.

When children are just up to some random mischief

Nigerian parents have caught their kids engaging in the most outrageous forms of mischief that would ordinarily make them very furious, but they end up having a good laugh instead. The kids could be caught writing with ink on the fridge, laptop, windows or make a mess of the floor that it would take a lot of time, energy and washing to get the stains off.

Picky eating

Little children, especially toddlers, are sometimes picky eaters, so it is no surprise that Nigerian parents catch their kids picking at their food. Imagine a child picking at the same food she relished just a few days ago. Nigerian parents, especially mums, might find this annoying since having a picky eater in the house would mean wasting a lot of food.

Playing video games or watching TV when they should be doing homework or a chore

Most Nigerian parents can relate to this. At some point or another, they have caught their kids watching TV or playing video games when they are supposed to be busy with their home work or a house chore. Parents find this annoying and promptly remind their children of their responsibilities, even if it means scolding them or giving them a thorough spanking the old Nigerian way.

Playing Dress-Up

From mimicking their favourite television characters and superheroes, to wearing their parents’ clothes and mummy’s makeup, kids love to play dress-up. This is definitely one of the funniest acts that Nigerian parents have caught their children engaging in. It is a lot of fun to watch, especially when the children get very innovative with their role playing.
