Neighbour Who Almost Wiped Out An Entire Family By Poisoning Soup Confesses

An entire family would have been wiped out on Tuesday if the wife and mother of the house had not suspected foul play.

Gordon Daniel was arrested by the police in Ajegunle, Lagos, after he allegedly doused insecticide in his neighbor’s pot of soup.

The Nation reports that Daniel was accused by one of his neighbors, Saidat Shakiru that he poisoned her pot of soup on Tuesday after they had a disagreement over unpaid electricity bill.

According to Saidat, she and the accused were the only ones in their compound when she found out that her pot of soup had been contaminated with sniper, a popular insecticide. She said she had left her soup pot on the fire to attend to another issue only to return and discover its been poisoined.

Saidat then alerted their landlady and also her husband who was at work. The matter was then reported to the chief of their community, Saheed Fakunle, who alerted the police.

When interrogated, Daniel said the devil pushed him to carry out such an act, saying he was very angry with Saidat who was always in the habit of insulting him.

“‎The woman has been insulting me over electricity bill. I don’t know what got over me so I decided to put sniper inside their soup to punish her. I am sorry.

”I regret what I have done. She insulted me so much because of the electricity bill if not I don’t have any problem with her and her husband,” he said.

The owner of the house, Taiye Aroyewun, who frowned at the suspect’s action said:

“The man must be a madman to have attempted to wipe out an entire family. Now that he has been caught, he’s pleading and trying everything possible to settle the matter.

”Everybody refused because he is a wicked man who committed a wicked act. If I forgive him today, supposing he chops my head off tomorrow what would happen?”
