Health Minister Warns Nigerian’s About The Consumption Of Isi Ewu, Suya, Kilishi

Nigeria’s incumbent health minister, Prof. Adewole urged Nigerians to abstain from the consumption of our traditional meat based meal such as Isi ewu, Kilishi, Suya, Ngwo Ngwo and others. He made this claim at First Annual Black Tie event organized by Tristate Heart Foundation (THF).  Prof. Adewole complained that the diets of many Nigerians were unhealthy and thus responsible for causing Hypertension leading to Cardiovascular diseases.

Adewole backed his claim by saying 1 in every 5 Nigerian is hypertensive and is at risk of dying prematurely. He added that;

“Sadly, there is a wide spread consumption of proteins, fruits and vegetables and increasing patronage of fast food outlets by the population. There is a large promotion of sweetened products such as carbonated drinks, pastries, candies and other refines sugars, while excessive intake of salt is promoted by food additives such as monosodium, glutamate common in delicacies such as Suya, Kilisi, Nkwobi among others.”
