Mother Abandons Twins Shortly After Childbirth Over Inability to Pay N150,000 Hospital Bill

Sarah Ademola, a new mum, allegedly fled Felken Maternity Centre in the Shomolu area of Lagos State, where she gave birth to a set of twins.

According to Punch, the new mum disappeared from the centre on December 16, 2016, due to the inability of her husband, Adeyemi Ademola to pay the hospital bill of N300,000. The man who has already paid N150,000, is pleading with the hospital to give him some time to pay the balance:

Femi Falana, a Lagos-based human right lawyer who intervened in the matter said detaining babies over debts owed by their parents is against the law.
