”You diss someone’s baby, but hide your baby’s face.” Actresses Wade into Tonto Dikeh’s Open Apology to Mercy Johnson

Yesterday, famous Nollywood actress and first time mum of one, Tonto Dikeh-Churchill, wrote an open apology letter via Instagram to fellow colleague and mum of three, Mercy Johnson- Okojie to plead for forgiveness for calling her first daughter, Purity, a witch (read here) and saying some unkind words to her in 2013.

However, a few Nollywood actresses have waded into the matter.

Veteran actress and mum of three, Victoria Inyama calls Tonto out for doing it in the first place, saying it is not sincere. She further said that she apologised because her past deeds have come to haunt her (referring to rumours making it rounds on social media that Tonto Dikeh’s marriage is in crises) and then advised her to try work things out to make it work.

On a positive note, another Nollywood actress and glamorous mum of four, Nkiru Umeh, praised the two mamas for the bold step they took to ask for forgiveness and to truly forgive.

”When I say motherhood is a miracle, this is what am talking about! @tontolet @mercyjohnsonokojie just proved that. There comes a point in life when fun no longer means party, drinking and staying out late or only thinking about yourself.

Fun means family outings or dinners, cooking for the family, a messy house, sleeping by 10pm and hearing voices, assisting with home works, school runs, buying toys and more. The greatest gift and blessing in life is being a mom. ❤❤Pregnancy and motherhood are the most beautiful and significantly life-altering events that I have ever experienced. Is a glorious blessing and I am very thankful for that.

    • It takes a godly heart to realize your mistakes and say am sorry. Tonto no matter what anyone says am proud of the step you took and the good Lord will perfect all that concerns you and yours.

  • I think it’s enough already. She apologized and mercy accepted end of story. People should not continue hammering on the issue.
