5 Ways to Keep The Spark Alive in Your Relationship During Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be a little strenuous on not just your body, but on your relationship too. It’s hard to waddle around like a penguin and still want to be lovey dovey. Lets be frank, a bulging cute bump, swollen ankles and noses are not exactly the look of a sexy woman. Regardless of all the minor bumps, there are a thousand and one ways you can absolutely keep the spark alive and the fire in your relationship burning right.

1. Don’t talk about only pregnancy all the time

No matter how much your partner loves you, it will get boring to just talk about pregnancy or baby things. He wants to remain connected to you always, and not feel like he has been sidelined. Yes, the occasional baby talk and pregnancy talk is bound to come up, don’t make it feel like that is all your relationship is about for the period.

2. Don’t be afraid of having sex

Sex during pregnancy can be accomplished without any detrimental effects up until the day of delivery, the key is being open to it, and each other. You may have to try different positions, and if you want him to do things in a different way, you need to communicate that to him as well. Remember that sex, during pregnancy will in no way harm your baby.

3. Don’t be afraid to not have sex

Intimacy takes a different meaning during pregnancy. If you are not up for sex as much anymore, there are a lot of different ways that you can be intimate with your husband. You can cuddle, you can get  him to give you a massage, or you give him one. Physical touch have pleasurable effects when the mood is right.

4. Be patient

With your emotions raging all over the place, you both will do well to practice a little patience. Mummy, try to think about his feelings sometimes, this can be difficult because he isn’t the one hit with constipation or the swollen feet. Regardless, he still loves you and is doing the best he can. Daddy, you may want to actually think of stuff, and how you want to phrase it before you say it, because a pregnant woman may read meaning into anything – even the most harmless comment. It’s not her fault, its the reggie brain.

5. Communicate

This may seem a little obvious, but it’s not. The more you both communicate about how you’re feeling during this time, the better. Even daddy, you need to tell mummy how you feel about the coming birth of your child. The stronger your relationship is before the kid, the stronger it’ll be after the kid.
