6 Compliments All Working Moms Love to Hear

Who doesn’t love a compliment? Who would especially Love to get compliments, working moms! Functioning on just a few hours of sleep, working, going home to deal with a toddler, sweeping, cleaning, cooking and getting ready for the next day, and other activities require almost superhuman multi-tasking skills.

And this is why working moms deserve lots of compliments. Here are 6 great things working mothers love to hear:

1. “Your kid is so happy/clever/kind/funny/, well done”

She’s aware that she has to spend more time away at work and maybe less time at home. Hearing that her child is doing well, and also getting acknowledged that she helped raise that child will make her day.

2.  “You always look so beautiful.”

By noticing simply and admiring her efforts at looking beautiful while still juggling motherhood duties, makes her smile. Keeping up a beautiful outward appearance while balancing work and home duties is not an easy task. And so the next time you see a working mom looking fabulous, be sure to let her know, because she deserves this compliment!

3. “It’s amazing that you manage your household and family so well while keeping up with your very demanding job.”

Instead of asking her how she does it,  just spell out exactly what she’s doing and call it what it is: Amazing. When you ask a working mother, how do you do it? Chances are she might feel less appreciated, because the fact is she isn’t doing it all (she may have help from family, her husband, nannies, etc), but she has done a lot that should still be appreciated and recognized.

4. “I Admire How You Handled That”

Imagine being at a wedding, and you’re seated next to a woman with a child who begins to throw a tantrum, because she didn’t get to drink Fanta. This woman doesn’t scream at her child or beat her bum, (most Nigerian mums would). She seats quietly with her held high and allows her child to cry or scream it out, after its over, she quietly but firmly corrects and disciplines the child who seems calmer. How would you think that mum would feel hearing this compliment? Great of course!

5. “I love the way you organized your time.”

A working mum is at the office at least 8- 10 hours. When she comes home she has to attend to her children, and husband,  sometimes with or without any extra help. She’s managed to put together a schedule that works and fits her family, not perfectly, but just A-okay. When she gets recognition for this, she is bound to put in extra effort just to make her family happy.

6. “You are a badass.”

Who doesn’t like to feel like a super hero?! This one wins 100% of the time with moms. All that’s left is for them to go around wearing their capes when they are reminded of how much effort, energy and time they put into making things work both at home and at their place of employment.
