Man in Ogun State Chains Wife to Generator to Punish Her

37-year-old Ifeanyi Ajaero has been arrested by the Ogun state Police command for allegedly chaining his 28 year old wife, Obiageli Ajaero, to a generator from night till the following morning. This followed after she was beaten by Ifeanyi and then chained on the night of Friday the 14th till the morning of Saturday 15th April 2017.

Punch reports that the accused is a former member of the disbanded merchant Navy. He was said to have used a handcuff to chain his wife who had become so weak as a result of serious beating from the husband.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Ifeanyi’s neighbors who were witnesses to the barbaric beating of his wife, alerted the police about the latest happening.

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to chaining his wife but claimed he did so for “self-defence.” His wife’s action to warrant this was however not mentioned in his statement.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, described the action of the suspect as wicked and ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the state Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
