Young Mother Causes Serious Outrage After Breastfeeding Her Tender Baby While Smoking Bong

A shocking photo which appears to show a woman breastfeeding her baby while taking hits from a bong has caused serious outrage online.

The shocking image shows Kayla Marlow holding a purple pipe, used to inhale drugs, to her mouth while her friend holds a lighter over the other end.

Marlow shared the image showing her inhaling from the object, while cradling her baby in her other hand. Her friend, Krystal Rose Shillingford-Holm who appears more than happy to help her out, lights the bong while Marlow takes a deep pull.

According to Dailymail, the young mother from Portland, Oregon, then took to her Facebook page to share the disturbing picture on a cannabis parenting support group and captioned the image with ”Need a safe place to share this beautiful picture” and added that she was ”feeling blessed”.

Shortly after posting the picture, Kayla actually received some support from like-minded parents while others were quick to share their outrage, questioning her parenting skills and how she was damaging her child’s health.

A woman named Sierra Cox approved, saying:

”Love it!! My boyfriend would do this for me when I breastfed and of course you have to do the lean-over so you don’t bump their head or light their little hairs on fire.”

Some were not so friendly.

”Nursing while getting stoned, you are trailer park rejects. Pure trash,’ wrote a man name Joseph.

”I’m more liberal than conservative, and I support responsible legalization, but this is f***ing ridiculous! If you want to smoke, do so when kids aren’t in your care. For f***’s sake, what a dumb c***,” wrote a woman named Sarah.

”I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure a newborn child breathing anything besides air is probably bad,’ man named Richard, who added that he isn’t anti-marijuana but thinks people would have much more negative things to say about a mother smoking a cigarette while breastfeeding.

Another social media user said: ”I’m not against weed, however what they are doing is child endangerment it would be the same if I lit a cigarette in the house with my kids.”

Another commented: ”If you are going to smoke it do it away from the baby! Staged or not you’re main concern should be feeding your baby, not posting pictures on Facebook.”

Another said: ”Good lord. OK I’m more liberal than conservative, and I support responsible legalisation, but this is f****** ridiculous!

If you want to smoke, do so when kids aren’t in your care.”

Studies have suggested that a baby can ingest Marijuana, also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, through its mother’s breast milk.

Though insufficient studies have been completed on the effects of marijuana through breastfeeding, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists discourages mothers from smoking and breastfeeding.

”THC gets into breast milk and may affect your baby. Because THC is stored in body fat, it stays in your body for a long time. A baby’s brain and body are made with a lot of fat.

Since your baby’s brain and body may store THC for a long time, you should not use marijuana while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that breastfeeding mothers should not use marijuana.
