Popular radio personality and mum-of-one, Tolu Oniru aka Toolz has taken to her Instagram to reiterate her stance on kissing newborns.
Recall that, in January, few weeks after the Beat FM OAP welcomed her first child, she took to her Instagram handle to issue a notice to everyone to not attempt to kiss her newborn after she shared the photo of a baby that had contracted herpes following being kissed by a visitor.
Herpes is an infection caused by exposure to the herpes simplex virus, many adults are carriers without even knowing it, but when they kiss babies and newborns, the virus is transmitted to the child and can have fatal or life-threatening consequences because their immunity has not reached maturity. Most times, it is safer for parents to insist on no one kissing the baby, since it will not always be obvious, who could potentially infect the baby.
The mum-of-one has now made a fresh post on her Instagram in reaction to recent reports that another baby contracted herpes after being kissed by a visitor at the baby’s christening.
She stated that when she talked about it before, people felt she was weird.
“And some people think I’m being weird when I stress over this. Their immune systems aren’t fully developed.”
Other Nigerian celebrities who reacted to the report, further told baby lovers to keep their kiss in their mouth as they might pass off diseases to the baby knowingly or unknowingly.
