Brig-Gen Shaibu Ibrahim, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps has advised female corps members serving in the country to respect their dignity by refraining from shameful acts. The DG further warned them not to allow men lead them into activities that will bring shame to their families.
Mr. Ibrahim said this while addressing Batch B corps members, Stream 2, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday, August 26, PUNCH reports. He said,
”My call to you female corps members is that you should respect yourselves and maintain your dignity. You should not allow men during the service year to lead you into activities that will bring shame to your families and the NYSC scheme.”
He also advised the corps members in the state to shun all forms of criminality, especially cultism, drug abuse and peddling, internet scam and armed robbery. He added:
“As corps members, you should desist from unauthorised journeys to avoid being vulnerable to security challenges and accidents. Most of the reports of corps members’ deaths during the service year is as a result of auto crashes.”
Brig-Gen Ibrahim, therefore, advised corps members to participate actively in camp activities, especially Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training. He was quoted:
“You should work actively to access loans from financial institutions to establish small and medium enterprises at the end of the service year.”
