American rapper, Jacques Berman Webster II, known professionally as Travis Scott has opened up about raising his daughter, Stormi Webster to know she can do “anything a man can do —and perhaps even better.”

On .WAV RADIO with Chase B the Astroworld artist shares that he and Kylie Jenner are bringing up their 2-year-old to be a “strong” young woman. The 29-year-old award winning star explains:

“I feel like it’s way more important now to protect young Black daughters, women, and make sure they have the knowledge of how to carry themselves, how to move in this world, how to be strong, how to not even be scared to take that risk on any idea, jump out on any activity. Now more than ever, they have the vision.”

Scott went further to reveal that right now, he and Jenner are focused on bringing up Stormi with a “pure vision” of what she can do in this world, and how she can change it for the better.

“That’s why we got to get out, as the youth and as us being the future to what this world’s got to hold. We got the voice; we got the power to change all this shit, so we got to use that and put our foot on that next, man. Because you got to make this shit come to a halt at some point,”

Scott said.

But more than that, Travis said he’s grateful he’s been able to spend the recent months with Stormi. He shared, “It’s amazing just to watch my daughter grow.”

During the coronavirus pandemic, the “Sicko Mode” rapper has been hanging out with Stormi and Kylie. Recently, the family of three came together to mark Stormi’s first day of home school, with Kylie sharing a photo of the 2-year-old decked out in a posh outfit.

Stormi just started her first year of school amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic last week, which means she’s old enough to start understanding current events and being emotionally affected by them. In an August GQ interview, Scott said, “It’s amazing to watch my daughter grow.”

“I’m keeping her aware of what’s going on in the world,” he continued. “As a parent, I’m always instilling knowledge, even at this age.”

Though it’s important to let kids be kids and shelter their innocence for as long as possible, it’s never too early to start teaching them that they can be smart, kind, world-changing individuals who can shape their society into a more accepting, understanding place.

We’re super happy to hear a dad talk about these issues (though we still wish more men could come to that conclusion on their own without having daughters), especially considering just how much influence the hip-hop star has over other young men. Scott went on to use that influence to urge fans to vote in the coming election.

Back before she had Stormi, Jenner proudly declared herself a feminist to Glamour UK. She said:

“I do consider myself a feminist. I’m a young woman, for one thing, and I don’t depend on a man or anybody else. I make my own money and start my own businesses, and I feel like I’m an inspiration for a lot of young girls who want to stand on their own.”
