Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Recount How Hollywood Star, Tyler Perry Stepped In To Help When The Royal Family Cut Them Off

Hollywood actor and Filmmaker, Tyler Perry is trending on Twitter following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

During the interview, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed how the billionaire stepped in to help them after they were cut off financially by the royal family and left without security or a plan following their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.

While speaking with Winfrey about their subsequent move to Canada, and then to the United States, where they eventually settled down in California, the couple revealed that Perry, who has a net worth of $1bn, according to Forbes, offered them use of one of his homes and his security.

Soon after they were told they would stop receiving security protection from the British royal family, Harry and Markle, who were in Canada at the time, started to panic about where they should go and where they would be safest.

Tyler Perry offered, not just one of his homes in southern California, but a full security detail. The couple, who revealed they are expecting a baby girl stayed there for three months.

Prince Harry recalled:

“While we were in Canada, in someone else’s house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed.”

He added that because of tabloids, his and his wife’s exact location was known. The expectant dad-of-two continued:

“So suddenly it dawned on me: ‘Hang on, the borders could be closed, we’re going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be, the world knows where we are, it’s not safe, it’s not secure, we probably need to get out of here.”

At that point, Meghan told Winfrey they didn’t have a plan and “needed a house”, at which point Tyler Perry stepped in.

“We didn’t have a plan and we needed a house and he offered security as well so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do,”

Meghan told Winfrey of the couple’s first months in California.

A source previously told People that the couple, who stayed in Perry’s house for three months before relocating to a home in Santa Barbara, “have endless gratitude to him for helping them during a complicated time”.

On social media, the actor, producer and screenwriter’s generosity was met with praise, with many applauding Perry for offering to help the couple during their moment of vulnerability.
