Dowen College: Autopsy Result Of Sylvester Oromoni Has Been Released | See Details

Autopsy result has revealed what caused the tragic death of Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

According to the result signed off by one Dr Clement Vhriterhire, Sylvester died from ‘acute lung injury from chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force’.

The result also revealed that the late student had a scalded upper lip, bruised flanks/back, acute gastric erosion, acute lung injury, cerebral oedema with raised intra-cranial pressure and enlarged liver.

This comes after Perris Oromoni, a relation of the deceased student accused the Lagos State police command of “hoarding” the second autopsy result of the corpse (Read here).

Perris, who made the claim while remembering his cousin’s death one month after, also stated that while the house masters of the school are still locked up, the “killers” have been released on bail.

12-year-old Sylvester reportedly died after he was bullied and beaten by senior students of the school located around Lekki, Lagos state.

You will recall that report of the Dowen College student’s death led to an outcry including high profile reactions weeks ago, as many demanded for justice.

Weeks ago, Sylvester’s cousin took to Twitter to state that his cousin died from injuries he sustained after allegedly being beaten by fellow students who were forcing him to join a cult in a Lagos boarding school.

He said while the school authorities told his uncle that the boy got injured while playing football, the hospital he was taken to confirmed that he was bullied and sustained internal injuries after he was allegedly beaten up.

Management of Dowen College later refuted the earlier claims that the deceased was beaten to death. The school insisted that he was injured while playing football on 21st November 2021 and was immediately administered first aid and was released to his hostel room after he expressed relief.

The school later issued a second press released where they said Sylvester’s death requires a proper and thorough investigation.

However, on December 7, Lagos state police command arrested five students of Dowen College. The students were detained in a juvenile center for allegedly causing the death of Sylvester who died on November 30. The students have been accused of beating and bullying Sylvester.

The students were later granted bail to the sum of one million (N1m) each by the Magistrates Court.
