‘Marry Someone Who Can Love You Through Poverty’ -Flutterwave Co-Founder, Iyin Aboyeji Admonishes Young Folks Using His Personal Story With Wife

Nigerian businessman, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, who is the co-founder of Andela and Flutterwave, has advised single folks to marry someone who can stick with them during bad times.

In a recent tweet, the 30-year-old entrepreneur who was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019, also revealed how he and his wife weathered the storm of hardship to financial freedom.

He said they kept their spending low and lived within their means ensuring that there was no debt. Aboyeji said he wishes many young people would do the same today.

Aboyeji also expressed gladness over the fact that he and his wife learned early from too much suffering and keeping their barn really low as it has helped them to live a life of adventure and take advantage of the opportunity without accumulating debt.

According to him, part of why he knew his wife was the one was that he was very comfortable racking up thousands of dollars in debt to her while building Flutterwave.

“One thing I’m glad my wife and I learned early from too much suffering is how to keep our barn really low. This has helped us live a life of adventure and take advantage of opportunity without accumulating debt. I hope young people today are still able to do same.

Also please marry someone who can love you through poverty. It is very important. Part of why I knew she was the one was I was very comfortable racking up thousands of dollars in debt to madam while building Flutterwave (didn’t earn a dollar of salary until we could raise).”

They compare you to the guy in the G Wagon but they were not there when he was working for it, they want him now that he has it. If you’re lucky enough to find a woman that will ride with you through the rough then hold her well and when the money comes spoil her silly because they are very very rare.’
