A 13-month-old baby girl has been allegedly defiled at a school, Lohims Academy Ojota, in Lagos.
The heart-wrenching story was shared by Yolanda George -David popularly known as Aunt Landa via her Instagram page.
Yolanda is a Nigerian medical doctor, radio host (OAP), humanitarian who is the founder of AuntLanda Bethel Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation with the primary objective of providing counseling, support, rehabilitation and reintegration services to the Physically, Emotionally and Sexually Abused.
According to AuntLanda, the child simply identified as Princess was taken to school on Monday, July 4, but when her mother picked her up after school, she said she noticed her baby girl had swellings, bruises, whitish discharge with blood stains around her vagina.
The following day, July 5, Princess was taken to Oregun PHC, where she was examined. At the health centre, they confirmed that the toddler has been defiled and her hymen was not intact.
When Princess’ mother called the proprietress of the school to inform her of her findings, she said the proprietress flared up, accusing her of making up stories to tarnish the image of her school, and told her to be careful on how she is pointing accusing fingers at her school.
“I am so livid right now… Just Angry 😠 😡How can anyone think that a mother of a 13month old who went to Daycare on Monday morning intact and got back home that night with a ruptured Hymen… whitish discharge with bloody stains… to be quiet….
Now… the Proprietress says that the mom should be careful with pointing fingers at her school… asking her to stop talking about it…because she is ruining the reputation of her school.
Defilement of 1year old girl
Case of Princess, a 13-months-old baby girl who was suspected to be defiled in school, Lohims Academy Ojota, Lagos.
As reported by Princess’ mother, Mrs. Mary, Princess came back from school, Lohims Academy Ojota, on Monday, July 4, 2022, with bruises, swellings, blood stains and whitish deposits around her vagina and thigh.
On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, Princess was taken to Oregun PHC, who examined Princess and confirmed that she has been defiled and her hymen was not intact.
However, when they had the name of the school, Lohims Academy Ojota, where the incident took place, they flipped, claiming that Princess just has diaper rash, that it was nothing. However, they referred them to Ojodu PHC, claiming that there is an agency there that handles defilement.
On getting to Ojodu Phc, they were told that no such agency exists there. The doctor examined and confirmed that Princess has been defiled, having a broken hymen. A second doctor was called, who examined and confirmed also that Princess was defiled.
Again, upon hearing the name of the school, they changed their narrative, claiming that Princess just had diaper rashes, that it’s nothing.
However, when Princess’ parents challenged the doctors at Ojodu Primary Health Centre, they were given Laboratory Request Paper to run some tests in their laboratory.
The laboratory official requested for payment for the tests but Princess’ parents made them to understand that the doctor already told them that the do not need to pay. Only RVS test was conducted on Princess, they claimed that they do not have Rape Kit available, and gave them some supplements, antibiotics, and HIV-prevention medications for Princess.
Today, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Princess was taken to Police Hospital Falomo, Lagos, where it was yet confirmed that Princess was defiled. But because the incident was more than 48 hours old, the sperm evidence were no longer available.
When Princess’ mother called the proprietress of Lohims Academy Ojota, the proprietress claimed that she was making up stories to tarnish the image of her school, and told her to be careful on how she is pointing accusing fingers at her school.
Meanwhile, earlier on the day of this incident, Monday, July 4, 2022, when Princess’ mother went to drop her off at school, she was told that she can not go into the school premises, that the security boys will take the baby girl to the crèche.
Later in the day, when she came to pick up her daughter, she was not allowed into the school premises again. She had to lie that she needed to use the restroom, just to gain access into the school premises.
Since the abuse, Princess has been throwing up and running temperature.”
