Comedian, Basketmouth’s Estrange Wife, Elsie Issues Out Statement To Nigerians Who Marriage-shames Women

Ace comedian Basketmouth’s estranged wife, Elsie Akpotha, has issued out a statement to people who marriage-shames women.

Elsie, in a video she shared on her Instagram page on Friday, January 6, noted how ladies and women get shamed for late marriages and late child birth. The mother of three went on to caution Nigerians against shaming unmarried women.

According to Elsie, marriage is not something someone should rush into, so society should allow women do what works best for them.

She further stated that, as beautiful as marriage is, it’s pure hard work; thus, people should only marry when they are certain they are ready.

“You need to understand that if a woman is not married, it’s because she is probably taking her time or she hasn’t met the right person because you do not want to rush into this institution called marriage in the name of wanting to get married on time and end up rushing out because marriage can be touch.

As beautiful as it is, it is hard work. If a woman decides that she is not ready yet, you need to let her be. Stop with the derogatory remarks.”

Recall that in December 2022, Basketmouth announced the end of his 12-year marriage to Elsie.

The father-of-4 made the announcement via his verified Instagram page on Thursday, December 22, where he assured to peacefully co-parent with his wife in taking care of their children.

The actor who didn’t give reasons for the divorce pleased with the public to respect their privacy. The sad news had left many in disbelief as they noted how the comedian was fond of making expensive jokes.

Following the separation, Nigerians dug up old video of the estranged couple affirming their stance against divorce.

In the interview, Basketmouth and Elsie vowed never to get divorce. The comedian bragging avowed that there is no good marriage that end in divorce hence while he and Elsie can’t divorce.

The couple stated that divorce isn’t on their table as they love each other.
