Mo’Cheddah Opens Up On Her Waiting Period And How A Nurse Called Her Fertility To Question Because Of Her Age

Modupe-Oreoluwa Oyeyemi Ola popularly known by her stage name Mo’Cheddah is the guest on this episode of Teymesan’s podcast show “Tea With Tay.”

The Nigerian rapper talks to Taymesan about her music journey, teenage years, breaking onto the scene, being a mom, marriage, motherhood and more.

During the chat, Mo’Cheddah disclosed that it took her and her husband years for them to conceive. While undergoing series of tests to get pregnant at age 29, a certain nurse told her she should have married earlier, attributing her fertility struggle at the time to ‘late marriage’.

The nurse further stressed that difficulty in pregnancy is one of the reasons why mothers advocate for their daughters to get married early.

The 32-year-old mother of one confessed to having been rendered speechless by the nurse’s words seeing she couldn’t utter anything for one who was well-known to dish out prompt clap backs.

“When I was still trying to conceive, I was like what’s wrong with me? I was like everybody can do this thing. I’ll be like it’s me that can’t do this thing. What’s going on here?

You know in these situations, it’s usually the woman that feels inadequate”,

the host chipped in as the singer corroborated his claims with a, ‘Yeah!’

Recounting her ordeal with the nurse, the ‘If You Want Me’ singer continued:

“There was a time I was running some tests and I went to the hospital. I think I was 29, going on 30. Then the nurse looked at me when I was getting dressed and asked, ‘Madam, how old are you?’ I said, ‘I’m 29’.

Then she said, ‘When our mothers were begging us to get married early, that’s why you’re going through what you are going through. If you had gotten married like 24, you won’t be having these issues’.

I was shocked. You know me, I always have a comeback or clap back for any situation. But that was the first day something held my tongue.”

Reacting to the interview,

@Mayor of FCT said:

The nurse was right. Women have difficulty getting pregnant as they age. Their most fertile period is late teens to early 20s.

@Aarjay_Official added:

Wait, but it’s true now, why’s she making a big deal out of the situation? Not to sound rude or anything but it’s medically prove that a women who has crossed the age of the 30 would have difficulty having children or stands a higher risk of delivering a baby with Down syndrome
