BBNaija Uriel Oputa Addresses Age-Shaming Culture Among Nigerian Men

Former Big Brother Naija star and businesswoman, Uriel Oputa, is making waves online after boldly confronting a growing societal trend, age-shaming, particularly against women.

The reality star expressed her thoughts on Instagram, as she called out Nigerian men who shame women for getting older.

Uriel questioned why anyone would weaponize a natural part of life (aging) as a form of insult. In a world where youth is idolized and filters dominate, the TV star and entrepreneur chose honesty, grace, and confidence.

She emphasized that she would rather grow older than die young, stating that ageing is a privilege.

“Why is it that some men think shaming a woman for growing older is an insult?” Uriel asked.

“I’d rather grow old than die young. Ageing is a privilege.”

Uriel’s powerful statement quickly gained traction, with fans and fellow celebrities applauding her for standing up against toxic beauty standards and unrealistic expectations placed on women in society.

She captioned the vidoe:
