Nigerian Man Writes To Parents As He Recalls The Drastic Action His Uncle Took On His Son-In-Law For Battering His Daughter
A Nigerian man, Abdulahafiz Muhammad has said families giving out their daughters in marriage should make it clear that there won’t be a ‘roundtable mediation’ if physical assault is involved.
Mr Muhammad stated this in a Facebook post on Monday, July 21, while reacting to a video of family members beating their son-in-law for brutalising his wife.
Muhammad also recalled when his uncle ‘delivered a message’ to his son-in-law for assaulting his daughter.
According to him, his uncle went straight to the boy’s house, walked into his living room where he was greeted by the boy, beat him up the same way he had been beating his wife, and then walked back home.
He stated that abusive husbands need to know they can’t joke with your daughters and go scot-free.
He wrote:
“I just watched a video on Sadiq Madabo’s timeline where a man was beaten up by his in-laws for beating his wife. It made me remember the time my uncle did the same thing when his son-in-law beat his daughter.
It wasn’t the first time the boy was doing it so my uncle knew he needed to teach him a lesson. He went to the boy’s house, walked into his living room where he was greeted by the boy, beeeeeeat him up like mad, then walked back home. Shikenan.
Message properly delivered. It was the last time the in-law hit her again.
If you have a daughter whose hand you’re giving in marriage to someone, make sure to state to them sternly that you will do the worst if he ever lays a finger on her.
You must make it clear to them that there will be no round table mediation if physical assault is involved. It’s just energy for energy.
People need to know that they can’t joke with your daughters and go scot-free. You didn’t pick these daughters from the stores; you gave birth to them.”
