660 suspected pedophiles arrested in Britain and they include teachers, doctors and ex cops
The biggest child sex abuse investigation has led to the arrest of about 660 pedophile suspects in Britain.
According to Daily Mirror, the group – including doctors, teachers, care workers and former police officers – were held during the unprecedented six-month sting headed by the National Crime Agency, dubbed Britain’s FBI. The suspects were held for downloading and sharing sickening pictures. They include a doctor who allegedly had more than a million indecent images of children, plus rope and sex aids in his car boot. The man, who police believe had been meeting boys, has been remanded in custody.
The massive investigation – codenamed Operation Notarise and involving all 45 UK police forces – led to 431 children who were in the “care, custody or control” of the suspects being “safeguarded”. They included 127 identified as being at serious risk of harm.
Of the 660 suspects arrested, 39 were registered sex offenders but the vast majority had never sparked suspicion previously. Those held had used the internet or so-called “dark web” – online content which is not listed for access by normal search engines. One said he had viewed images of child abuse for 30 years and repeatedly travelled to South East Asia as a sex tourist.
A foster carer with no previous convictions or allegations of offending was looking after an autistic 12-year-old child when he was arrested.
