Man beats pregnant wife to death in Enugu
A man has reportedly beat his 4-month pregnant wife to death in Enugu. According to Vanguard’s Francis Igata, tragedy struck at the weekend in Akpawfu village in Nkanu-East Local Government Area of Enugu state when Ndidi Ozoemena Nwankwo was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, Ozoemena Nwankwo at about 10.05pm on October 17.
Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command has launched an investigation into the heinous crime describing the suspect as an alleged serial wife beater.
According to a statement released to newsmen by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, “Close family source informed the command that the suspect had been using his wife as punching bag. The suspect’s wife is four months pregnant. Due to the beating she got from the husband on that fateful day which inflicted injuries on her right leg and on her vital organs, she was rushed to hospital. She was unconscious at the nearby hospital where she was rushed to and the doctors on duty confirmed her dead. The reason for the beating is yet to be ascertained. The suspect, Ozemena Nwankwo, has been nabbed and is helping Police with investigation.”
Meanwhile, the deceased corpse has been deposited at the Agbani General Hospital for autopsy.
Police spokesperson said the matter will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
