BRAVERY: Boys, 10 & 11, Rescue Two Babies From Burning Building

Two young boys, Isiah Francis, 10, and Jeremiah Grimes, 11, performed an act of bravery beyond their years as they entered a burning building and saved two babies, ignoring their own safety.

Wesh.com reports;

Two boys are being hailed as heroes after rescuing some of their neighbors on Tuesday from a burning mobile home in Orange County, according to officials.

Orange County Fire Rescue said four children and one adult, 19-year-old Luis Cruz, were in the home on Colonial Drive when the fire broke out.

Fire officials said Isiah and Jeremiah called 911, rushed to the home and rescued two of the children.

“We looked out the window and saw flames coming out of the house,” one of the boys, Grimes said. “(It was) really hot. It felt like 150 degrees in there. I’m just thinking, ‘Stay calm, keep your mind straight, stay focused on what you’re doing.’”

The child heroes said when they went inside the home, they could barely see anything.

“I was freaking out trying to get the babies out before they got hurt or something happened,” Francis said. “I found my way outside and I took the two kids to my house.”

The boys managed to rescue two babies, ages 1 and 8 months.

“I saved two people’s lives. Like, probably if no one did that, them two would probably be dead or seriously injured,” Grimes said. “I’m happy. As long as everyone is OK, I’m happy.”

Fire officials believe the fire started near a doorway between the living room and a bedroom. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
