TERRIBLE: Cholera Outbreak Affects IDP’s Camps In Maiduguri
A recent cholera outbreak in three Internally Displaced Persons camps in Maiduguri, Borno State, has left 16 people dead with 172 fighting for their lives.
Health officials from international bodies such as UNICEF and WHO have been trying their best to keep the situation under control and prevent the spread of the epidemic, as those affected have been separated from the unaffected.
An official of UNICEF who spoke to Vanguard said: “The situation at the camps is terrible. It was sudden and already a large number has been affected. At the last count, we have 16 dead and about 172 affected. We are in an emergency health situation in those camps.”
Information Officer of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mallam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, whose agency is in charge of feeding IDP’s however denied the outbreak of the epidemic, claiming they were cases of diarrhoea and vomiting.
God have mercy oh

Awful sight…. Govt. should intervene in this crisis
God please help these people, i really feel for them.
God have mercy on your people!
Instead of seeking fo help for those innocent people,he is staying on his bed n denying the fact.l’m sure he doesn’t even know the road to those camps
lord please heal our land
Oh God! This people fled from boko harm, now facing cholera?
That’s the stupidity of some leaders. Instead of admitting so that they can help them,he’s rather denying it just to cover his shame putting the lives of people at stake.
Lord have mercy
Those camps are a sore sight. They dont even have toilets. May God help them.
God please come to their aid. These people have really suffered
May God help us.
