Zoe Saldana Shares Harrowing Experience On Giving Birth To Premature Twins
Hollywood’s Zoe Saldana, tells of how giving birth to her premature twins has inspired her to get involved with Brave Beginnings, a non-profit organization that works to ensure hospitals have the life-saving equipment needed to help premature babies thrive.
Speaking to People Magazine, Zoe recounts how her and husband Marco Perego felt helpless after giving birth to her now 10-month-old sons Cy and Bowie.
She said: “When I was in the neonatal intensive care unit with my two sons, I became like every parent that was on that floor, my husband and I were at the mercy of our nurses and doctors — our children’s lives depended on their every move.”
The experience made her realize the peculiar needs of premature babies and equipment needed to keep them alive and help them develop.
She said: “When children are born prematurely, they don’t just need to be held, they need assistance breathing, feeding and going to the bathroom, they also need incubators to protect them while they’re forming immune systems.”
She continued: “This equipment can mean the difference between life and death for a child, that’s just the truth, if a child can’t breathe and doesn’t have the equipment to help him breathe we can’t help him with our own hands.”
Zoe hopes every child will have access to the same quality of care that her sons received. She said: “I went through it, i was there. I was a parent and my children were the ones that benefited from having excellent services from the hospital. And I want that for every parent. I want that for every child.”

That’s so thoughtful of her, I wish the Nigerian hospitals can do better cause minor issues that should have been corrected ended up with serious complications. Though, attitude of medical staffs is part of it not just equipments /facilities alone.
that is why mother’s are very important. she is a mum indeed
I can understand her. I wish more people would be this thoughtful
