Sandra Aguebor became Nigeria’s first lady mechanic who has taken this as a career.
During an interview with Aljazeera, Sandra Aguebor, who grew up in a polygamous home in Benin City said her mother strongly disapproved her choice of career, sometimes she would beat her for working with engines instead of doing her chores in the kitchen.
She said, ”The constraints, the obstacles, the challenges that could have driven me back, they became my opportunity. The future looks bright.”
Nigeria’s first lady mechanic added that she has networked so many female mechanics. She has also trained sex workers, orphans, and victims of trafficking to be mechanics.
Sandra’s Lady Mechanic Initiative has spread from city to city with its first project in Kano City where she got quite a number of Muslim women to the circle.
”Our Clients keep coming back. They prefer us because we are determined to be better than a lot of mechanics who take their job and their salary for granted,” she stressed.
