2 Pregnant Women Collapse During Teachers’ Screening Exercise in Bauchi
Two pregnant women who collapsed while waiting to be screened by the Verification Team from the office of the Account General of the Bauchi state government yesterday have died.
The unnamed pregnant women were reportedly among the over 6,000 teachers in the state that were called to assemble at the state Local Government Education Secretariat for a screening exercise before they collect their salaries.
Vanguard gathered from an eyewitness that one of the women, who was 7-months pregnant, fainted when the crowd were pushing one another in order to be verified. He added that they were all present at the local government education authority for the verification, so there was a massive crowd at the venue ”because we have not been paid for three months.”
He said, ”…as the crowd kept increasing, people began to push each other. In the process, an unidentified pregnant woman fainted and went into comma. Another pregnant woman also collapsed and had a miscarriage instantly. The two pregnant women were rushed to the hospital for treatment. We later heard that they died.”
Sad!
This is sad. People queueing to be paid for money they worked for hmmmmmm.
OMG!!! What a shame on the government.Whatever happened to giving preference to pregnant women and nursing mothers?
What’s wrong with all these mallams??? Don’t they know pregnant and nursing moms should be given preference in such cases?? Now they’re dead, what manner of evil is this??
Oh gosh!! I wonder when Nigeria would outgrow all these… things like this ought to be done electronically, NUT or what ever authority in charge should by now have a sound database of registered qualified teachers in the country which can be updated electronically from time to time without all these wahala of queuing up for long hours. We cant even take advantage of modern technology already researched out and made available for use by the white, na to go build nuclear plant dey hungry us, make them remember wetin tsunami do Japan’s nuclear plant which in turn razed down an entire city, and till date some parts of Japan still has polluted air in circulation. Make una try o! May their souls rest in peace!
