Amazing! 7-Year-Old Girl Born Without Hands Wins Handwriting Competition
Anaya Ellick, a 7-year-old Virginia first grader born without hands beat out 50 other children to win the coveted trophy at a national handwriting competition.
The little girl with impeccable handwriting uses her forearms to write, opting to forgo prostheses.
The principal of her school, who encouraged her to participate in the competition open to students from kindergarten to eighth grade, told ABCNews, “There is truly very little that this girl cannot do. She is a hard worker. She is determined. She is independent. She is a vivacious and a no-excuses type of young lady.”
Competition director Kathleen Wright added, “We looked at her writing and were just stunned to see how well her handwriting was, considering she writes without hands. Her writing sample was comparable to someone who had hands. She truly has some of the neatest hardworking in her class.”
