CCTV Captures ‘Mama Oyin’ Who Kidnapped Trader’s 1-Year-Old Daughter
On May, 16th 2016, we posted the news of a 1-year-old toddler identified as Fehintola Lawal, who was kidnapped by one ‘Mama Oyin’ at Olaniyi Street near Bola events centre between an abattoir and Abule Egba around past eleven in Lagos.
A Closed Circuit Television Camera, CCTV at a supermarket in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State has shown how ‘Mama Oyin’, who disguised as a customer, strapped Fehintola to her back before allegedly escaping with the girl, Punch reports.
The footage, obtained by the police and Fehintola’s family members yesterday, 19th of May, 2016 captured how ‘Mama Oyin’ walked around the supermarket, as she searched for items, a few minutes before the alleged kidnap.
However, the items she wanted were not available in the shop when she went there on Saturday but she returned on Monday around 11a:m and reportedly begged for direction to where she could buy them in Agege.
It was gathered that Fehintola’s mother, Lola Lawal, had offered to go with Mama Oyin, who was said to be a jovial customer.
About to leave, Fehintola fell asleep and the customer requested to strap her to her back and she handed over her bag to Lola.
They boarded a tricycle to Abattoir Junction, after which they took a commercial motorcycle to Oko Oba, Agege where the women were said to have taken separate motorcycles, during which Mama Oyin disappeared with the rider on Olaniyi Street.
Immediately Lola noticed her disappearance, she tried to pursue her but her motorcycle was said to have sped back to the Abule Egba Road, where she hurriedly crossed the road and took a tricycle.
Since then, Mama Oyin and Fehintola had not been seen. The matter has been reported to the police.
Fehintola’s aunt, Lolade Oseni, said that the bag Mama Oyin dropped with Lola contained papers cut to currency sizes, adding that the phone numbers she gave them did not connect.
She added that she hoped the police would rescue Fehintola as the family members were all distraught over the incident.
She said: ”Mama Oyin did not sleep in our house on Saturday and Sunday when she visited us. She went back to her supposed house when it was late. The address she left in our church which she followed us to on Sunday is also fake.
”We obtained the footage on Thursday. The police worked with the supermarket to release the video to us. We are hoping that our daughter will be safely rescued by the police. We have also gone to Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to see the police authorities there.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, said the command was collaborating with the Ogun State Police Command as the search for Fehintola had been extended adding that the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba.
She said: ”The two commands are working together on the case. We are extending the investigation to Ogun State, around the Ijoko area. The CP has directed that the case be transferred to the SDCI, Yaba, for discreet investigation.
”Parents should beware of friends, and particularly friends that are not traceable, as we have been having cases of friends disappearing with children of their victims.”
