”Tomato Ebola”! FG Finally Finds A Solution
On Friday, 27th of May, 2016, the Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu said the federal government, through the National Institute for Chemical Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, has developed a home-grown solution to the disturbing tomato pest otherwise known as tomato ‘Ebola’.
Mr Onu said the disease has ravaged hundreds of hectares of tomato farms resulting in dire scarcity of the farm produce and thereby greatly increasing the prices of tomatoes in the market.
According to ThisDay, Mr Onu said: ”Very recently the nation woke up to hear that a pest ravaged our tomatoes farms in many parts of the country and the nation sustained a lot of losses. As a result, tomato factories were unable to get enough supply of tomatoes and had to shut down.
”Fortunately, an agency of the ministry has developed a pesticide agent that is very effective against this new tomato pest called tuta absoluta.
He added, while expressing confidence that the pesticide will eradicate the tomato disease: ”The pest ravaging tomato farms are of great concern to the nation, and this had led to an agency of the ministry to develop a pesticide agent which is very effective against the new tomato pest.”

Biko I don’t believe this people any longer, till now they have not been able to give us the brand name of the poisonous tin tomatoe they said was shipped into the country, or are the tin tomatoes invisible or they came without a name on the tins? Why scare the nation with such news yet hide/protect the poisonous brand by concealing its identity?..
