Inspiring! One Of The Youngest Pilots In The World Is Just 19 Years Old
Besa Mumba, a 19-year-old girl from Zambia, has become one of the youngest pilots in the world, CCTV reports.
According to the report, the Zambian teenager “has reached for the skies and is making history”. She decided to pursue a career as a pilot after reconsidering a career as a member of the cabin crew (flight attendant).
In 2013, she graduated from secondary school and was accepted into the South African Flight Training Academy. She got a commercial pilot’s license two years later.
The teenager admitted in the video that her first memorable moment of her career was when she went “solo” and when she first flew alone in July, 2013. She said excitedly, “That was just amazing … best feeling ever, to be in the aircraft alone and see that the instructor wasn’t there.”
She shared these words of encouragement with other young girls who hope to pursue a career in the male dominated industry. “When you have a passion, there will be a way. It’s all about working hard. No one can stop you and say you can’t do something. Your work will speak for itself.”
